If They Do, Are You?

January 12th, 2010

I visit a lot of blogs daily. And I love them. They’re cute, and they write the coolest posts. And they have a lot of inspiration as far as clothes and jewelry go. But when it comes to make-up… that’s just not for me. I’ve had my experience with it. It makes you look pretty and such but it just doesn’t feel right.

I do own make up (my collection has severely dwindled over the years).

I’ve worn it. When’s the last time I did? Before I married my husband, and I barely wore it then. I just don’t like how it feels. And that’s just the eyeshadow. I’ve never used cover-up. But I have had lipstick but that’s just… blegh!! Tastes horrible (no I’m not eating it!).

I also wear perfume. Well, more like lady cologne. It’s the kind my grandmother uses and it smells awesome. And coconut hand sanitizer!! Can’t live without it.

But see how it’s almost mostly empty? I thank my husband for that. He uses it to cover up bathroom stink. And that shit ain’t cheap!! $30.00 a bottle!! Sigh…

So yea, love their fashion sense. Love their “bling”. Won’t ever wear their make-up. But I love them all anyway.

Perfume is never cheap… or almost. ^^’
I like make-up, but I don’t want to look like a can of paint, haha. xD So I try to find make up which is more natural than it’s possible. ^^
I recently discovered “Everyday minerals” which is an American brand of make-up. And I like them very much ! ^^ And they are cheaper than in France, haha ! ^^

(I like very much the Hello Kitty quilt on which your make-up is! haha)

I got into make-up because of all the YouTube makeup tutorials. So, I like blogs that feature new looks and tutorials :)

  3. MadsMom says:

    Give it time, girl.

I was never much of a make-up chic myself. (You are so right about the taste of lipstick!)
In the past couple of years I’ve noticed looking a little more tired in pictures, not as bright as my make-up wearing family/friends. So this year I’ve committed to making more of an effort, including make up.
I’ve got 10 years on ya…your time will come!

I was never much of a makeup-girl when I was young, not until now I’ve learned how fun it can be, and I’m hooked. But… I still go to work without makeup every now and then ;)

Why on earth is perfume so expensive? ;)

  5. Sabreena says:

I wouldn’t say I love make up but it has been useful in snagging men. Most of the time people don’t even notice I have anything on until I wear lipstick then they’re all “Why are you so made up?” I commence slapping them while stating that I am ALWAYS made up stupid. Yeah, I enjoy make up but I dispise it at the same time. :*(

  6. Erica says:

Yes, I agree on how unnatural it can feel… however I think for me, I’ve grown so accustomed to wearing it that it feels completely normal. So I think you just have to get used to it. :wee:

I’m with ya on the makeup. Bryan said he didn’t like me in makeup, so I thought, yay. But then he saw me on my wedding day and he said I looked good like that, I should do my makeup like that when I wear it. I was like, dude, it took an hour and it was done by a professional.

lol, I personally prefer a woman with natural beauty. I don’t need my girl needs makeup.

  9. Anna CNA says:

I saw so many girl who put lot of make up on their face just to look attractive, it work or not I don’t know. I personally don’t feel it is bad.

    Thanks xD

  10. Ys says:

Oh thank God, someone else who doesn’t wear make-up! I will put on mascara and some eyeshadow if I’m feeling really glam (;D) if we go out for food or to the pub, etc. but other than that I never wear it. It makes my eyes so sore. And I have never ever worn foundation – I wouldn’t even know what to do with it!

  11. Kay says:

I love make-up but I do agree. It’s not for everyone. So don’t feel bad. A lot of women look great without it. I hate lipstick. I am a gloss kind of woman.

Perfume is never cheap when it comes to my taste.

  12. Lexxii says:

I feel the same. But I still have lots of make-up as likes gifts and stuff. But recently I have been getting into it a lot more. But I still try to keep it natural. The natural look for everyday is much prettier than lots of make-up.

  13. Honeydew says:

I used to never wear any makeup at all. And even now, I’m still a beginner at it. I’d say makeup is good when you keep it light and natural. I don’t do too much of that smokey eye and smearing eye shadow all over your eyelids and all that stuff. I like to be subtle with my makeup. But then again, with school being so busy and all, I only apply makeup occassionally when I do have TIME for it.

But I agree! Sometimes I do feel a bit weird with makeup on. It just doesn’t seem to feel as natural.

  14. Bibi says:

I remember when all the other girls i went to high school with would do their makeup in the bathroom and make it look so easy and when I tried to put on eyeliner I looked like a panda. :x
Besides the natural look is much much better & easier :P

  15. Lissy says:

    lol@ your hubby :P

Make-up is one of my hobbies cos its similar to my job [artist/designer] its like painting a face! haha!

I think not everyone needs make-up a lot of girls look beautiful with/without it and I’m sure you are one of those people

  16. Angel says:

I don’t wear make-up either. I only dark eyeliner back in high school because it was “cool.” lol so don’t feel bad. I do love perfumes though as well. I had Viva La Juicy and then I dropped. Worst mistake ever! I’m currently on the lookout for a new perfume. Hopefully you will find some cheap ones :)

  17. mishi says:

I only started wearing make up recently because my skin exploded as a teen to the point where people would talk about it behind my back D: I don’t ever feel it though =o &

But, to each his own =3 If you have good skin why not go make up less  it also saves money haha.

    Ooo Jovan musk :wee:

  18. Lady Impulse says:

I know what you mean, makeup is such a bother and it feels nasty especially at the end of the day when you just want to get to sleep but you have to go wash it off so it doesn’t leave marks on your pillows. But I personally like how certain makeup makes my eyes or complexion look.

  19. Holly says:

I wear very little makeup very rarely. I lovelovelove eyeliner and mascara and I look completely different with it on, but I don’t do foundation, blush, or lipstick. I like lip balm and maybe some lip gloss, but only sometimes.

  20. Zel says:

I hated the taste of lipstick, that gross waxy taste that just makes you feel like you’re gonna get a pimple on your lip soon taste!

But try MAC lipsticks (or lipglass) they taste and smell delicious! I cant get enough of it now :)

  21. Audrey says:

I am not a makeup wearer. I own some concealer and some eye shadow. They get worn a few times a year.

  22. Hanna Horner says:

These days I have to raid my daughters drawers to rediscover my long lost make up. I quit using “regular” make up when I realized that all those nasty ingredients actually made it into my blood – and could cause health problems.. I converted to mineral make up (with ingredients I understoon) I banned the “kid# make up with ALL KINDS of horrible stuff. It took a little while to replace everything with people friendly stuff ($$$) but it gave me peace of mind :)

Nice Blog Jennifer!Following from MBC ;)

  23. Angela C says:

I am the complete opposite, I do however agree about the cover-up though.

I found you at MBC, I am looking forward to reading your posts.

  24. Christine says:

Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

I have a ridiculous amount of makeup for someone who also rarely wears it. I do enjoy wearing makeup occasionally, but it’s not worth the 20-30 minutes it takes me to put it on everyday. Even though, I guess that it would take less time the more frequently you put it on…

To answer your question about the ENGG Week parade: the first week of the winter semester for engineers at my uni is called “ENGG Week.” One of the first events is a parade where a whole bunch of engineers parade around campus singing and making a whole bunch of noise just because. It was a lot of fun!

    Take Care!
