It’s all bullshit & it’s bad for you!

I’ve tried to write a post on religion and how I feel about it for years!! But I just… I can’t do it. I’m always afraid to offend my readers, but you know what? I’m not anymore. I’m done being afraid of you people and how you feel. :P

But I still have a dilemma. Explaining my religious view. So! Instead of trying to write something, I’ll let this video explain it.

Enjoy!!

You have to admit... the man has a point!

How many of you are ready to unfollow me now or never come back? *wee*

OMG I SO WILL UNFOLLOW J0000000!!1111ONE

Nah. :D I can understand people not being in particularly fanatic about religion, as religion can do a lot of damage. I’m Buddhist, and I don’t even see that as a religion tbh, as it’s more a… guideline for life.

I think the video jabs more at Christianity than overall religion, though. :) I’m pretty anti-Christian myself tbh. Not because of all the fairytale stuff (no offense to anyone), but generally what Christians have DONE in the world.

WEE Buddhist!! I thought about that, but… it’s just to much work to become religious xD But I do think that one in particular is cool!!

I tried watching the video, but I couldn’t last more than 3 minutes, because the guy is criticizing something he clearly has no idea about. I’m not saying people should embrace Christianity or anything, but I do feel sorry that what that guy (and many people out there) saw was the ugly “religious” side of it :( But heck, I’m Christian myself, so I guess that makes me biased, but I still think it’s sad how twisted the world’s understanding of Christianity has become, when it’s clearly not like that.
Ok, I’ll shut up now, lol.

It seems everyone’s blogging about religion at the moment ;)

I used to be so anti-religion. I only saw it cause war and pain and anger. But then something in me changed and I literally picked the Bible up off the shelf in a person’s house (I was staying there dog-sitting), started reading it and it opened up something in me. It changed me. Not in a scary-religious-nutter kind of way (although I know it sounds that way ;D). It just all felt right, it spoke to me.

What other people believe does not bother me at all. As long as we’re all being nice to one another then I’m happy ;)

I’m still here with you. I have major issues with most organized religions and that bit by George Carlin is soo fitting!

I have a really weird religious upbringing. I went to a Protestant Christian private school, have Buddhist parents, was atheist for most of high school, and am now… “searching” is the best way to put it. I’m not entirely warm to the idea of religion, but it’s not entirely ruled out as an option. I wouldn’t unfollow you for that reason, though; I strictly believe everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and I’m interested in hearing yours! =9

  6. Ok I’m gonna be honest.. I don’t like him so I’m not going to watch him knowing its about religion on top of it. That’s one of my golden rules I try not to talk about religion unless directly asked.

    I’m following you now.

Thank you for flying with us today.

Good for you for being open about not being religious. It’s so unaccepted – it’s crazy! Yet it’s so much more common than people realize, it’s just people not being open about being athiest that keeps it an unacceptable thing I think.

Not only are there so many more atheists than people realize – but SO many people who would say “uh, well..im christian” don’t ever pray, go to church, and would admit to questioning their beliefs. So in my opinion they are “christian” for social reasons more than anything else.

I just wish I could openly admit to being athiest without people assuming that I have no morals or am a bad person. It’s frustrating.

  8. It’s funny, no one ever expects to hear it about me…but I am totally Christian.

I’m the one that always gets followed by loss prevention, but I am usually the one in the store with the most morals. Many Christians judge me for my appearance, but I know that they are wrong for doing it. I think some people try to hard to be the perfect Christian, when in reality they are just fakes and hypocrites.

I do not force my views on anyone, but I know what I believe and I raise my family as good Christians. We are tattooed, we are rock n’ roll, we are totally awesome and we love God. :) I recently felt the the power of prayer, it was unlike anything I could ever describe. I think some people need to have that one eye opening experience and then they’ll get it and understand.

(This was not to be a bashing post and I hope it wasn’t taken that way, Just felt I needed a disclaimer because there is always that one person that thinks everything is about them)

    Have a great weekend!!!

I was raised Catholic and I used to say, well, I don’t know if all this is accurate or not, but until I find something else that makes more sense, I’ll stick with it. Then I took humanties senior year and we learned about all different religions and I said, hmm, mine makes the least amount of logical sense out of all of them. I have so many issues with Catholicism. It’s really way too much about politics and has very little to do with anything else.

I don’t think religion is harmful in any way. In fact, the belief in a higher being can be quite powerful, even if none exists. Prayer does help. I think it’s more the power of our brains than the power of God, but as long as you believe in something.

Organized religion on the other hand can be very dangerous. Any time you have someone in power telling people what to think, any time you have a group of people together that thinks they’re better or more right than everyone else, it’s bad.

People can believe, should believe, whatever they want to, but they need to keep an open mind and keep hate out of it.

Thanks for posting the video! :D I couldn’t agree more!

I understand the bad rap that organized religion gets. Although I am Catholic, I totally love this Carlin bit.

    Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

I lean toward Toaism. It is the least amount of work and the most fun.

    How dare you??

    JK!!!

My sister feels the exact same way. I recently asked her about religion and if she has a connection with God and she straight up told me NO b/c she doesn’t believe in any of it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and views. I’m nondenominational as of now.I really don’t know which religion I should pick…lol it sounds like I’m talking about a pair of shoes or some shit. Anyways, that vid was true but funny. I love how he said that God has to be a man b/c no woman would fuck shit up like that. HAHAHAHA!!!

Great Post & it’s good to be open
